Secret Green Day Songs?
Contact Music reports: Rockers Green Day have prompted rumours of a secret side project, after fans realised new music released under the name FOXBORO HOT TUBS sounded remarkably like the band.
The group are currently working on a follow-up to their 2004 disc, American Idiot, but the stark similarities in vocals between Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong and those on the Foxboro Hot Tubs' EP have got Internet blogs wondering whether the Holiday hitmakers have gone undercover to experiment with a new 1960s-inspired sound. If Green Day are proven to be behind the Foxboro Hot Tubs, it would not be the first time they have released tracks under a pseudonym [Doesn't just about every emo/pop-punk singer these days try sound a bit like Billie Joe? The trick we hear is to hold your nostrils closed while singing. More on the past secret release here]
Fall Out Boy Mad About Grammy Snub
Gigwise reports: Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz has hit at the Grammy Awards after his group failed to pick up a single nomination for the music industry back-patting event.
The bassist used Fall Out Boy's journal on their official website to vent his frustration at the snubbing under the title 'got bitterness? vs. a revelation on true connection (and the award goes to).'
With mixed feelings, he writes (typos and all): "the first reaction is jealousy mixed with a slight sense of entitlement. we just want to be a part of your club. we feel like the orphans in the movie the warriors, when we are just dying to be the baseball furies. the truth be told though when you explore it further than that you realize much more. other than the fact that we play the events for you and the right parties all the time (which is a bit embarrassing either for you or us, not sure which, possibly both. its kind of like being invited to a birthday party and then not allowed to eat the cake.)- it shouldnt mean much. (almost) noone in this industry has vision beyond the fear that this week is their last pay check.Police have confirmed sometime Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty was attacked in his local pub last weekend.
According to reports, Doherty was "punched in the face" by a drug dealer at the Sun Inn, Marlborough, Wiltshire.
However, it apparently wasn't over any outstanding debt or other such business, but rather because the dealer was upset he was not being patronised by Doherty and his infamous habit.
Whilst Police confirmed to the Mirror, "We are investigating," an onlooker reports the dealer told Pete during the attack, "You should get your gear from me.""It was horrible. Pete was really shaken up and upset," they add.
Babyshambles' label Parlophone have confirmed Doherty was attacked on Sunday, but claimed it was a stranger with no involement in drugs.
It is not known whether the incident was in any way responsible for his no show at his band's London gig on Thursday night.
